Exodus 20

Client: Scripture in Motion
Role: 2D Illustrator

About the project
This was my second project with Scripture in Motion in early 2026.

For this visual reading of the Ten Commandments, each frame needed to be dynamic and visually interesting—while simultaneously being relatively simple.

We relied on shape, composition, and a limited, high-contrast color palette to ensure that each frame packed a lot of punch! Saul Bass’s film posters from the 1950s and ‘60s were a key source of visual inspiration.

We used changes in the color palette to signal different movements (or sections) in the text. The section on Sabbath rest is the only section with more than three colors—a signal for the viewer’s eye to slow down.

The “shall nots” were some of the simplest frames in the video—in that they had fewer elements—but they were some of the most fun to design! We got to really play with composition & framing, negative space, and minimalism in storytelling.
