Redemption

Client: BibleProject
Role: 2D Illustrator

About the project
In 2025, I had the opportunity to work with BibleProject as an illustrator on another exciting theme video.

“Redemption explores how ancient biblical writers understood it as the cosmic work of rescue—where the creator reclaims his people to bring them home.”

—BibleProject

The art direction for Redemption centered around creating high visual contrast between the worlds of life and death.

In the “home world”—or the world that represents life and true freedom—we used warm tones and clearly defined shapes. We wanted this world to feel calm and welcoming. Woodcuts and wood block prints were key visual inspirations.

In contrast, the realm of death is depicted as dark, gritty, and grey. We used a lot of textured brushes and smudged edges to visually convey a sense of harshness and unease.

A key concept in the video is that blood is representative of life, and so the blood needed to feel vibrant and alive.
